Tag a family with upcoming travel plans! Anyone else have a stash of toys and activities just for travel? Ours is mostly from the Dollar Tree. I can walk in with $10 or less and get crayons, coloring books, stickers, reading books, toy cars, action figures, and animal figurines. Not only is this a budget-friendly way to entertain my son when traveling, but we aren’t heartbroken or sad if these toys get lost or broken.

If you’re stressing about sleep on vacation, take a deep breath with me. Meltdowns may ensue and patience may wear thin (for both parent and child), but what works for me is staying calm, being extra patient, and letting my child sleep when he needs to sleep. Our last trip had a four hour time change backwards, and my son barely slept the night before departure. And you know what? Everything worked out just fine. He slept on the layover, on the flight, in the car, and at our vacation rental too. The next day, our first epic day of vacation… he slept until 1 PM. Was the itinerary ruined? No, not even close. I came prepared to travel his pace, knowing our sleep would be a little wacky.

Unpopular opinion: book the early morning flight, especially if traveling with kids. I know this sounds insane, but it’s been our greatest travel hack. Here’s why we prefer to book early morning flights:
